Drugstore Makeup Haul: Face Products

Well hello there lovelies!

So a few weeks back I went to multiple drugstores and bought a few things to try out. Some products were new for me to try and the rest were just new in general

Since I don't want this post being a novel I am going to split it up in to two maybe three posts. Today's post is on Face Products.

Lets jump in!

Maybelline: Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser

To be 100% honest I have conflicting feelings about this primer. Do I think it is the best pore eraser product out there,no. Do I think for a drugstore product needed in a pinch it will suffice, yes. I will say that I have spoiled myself with the Benefit POREfessional and when I was trying out the Baby skin I found myself comparing it back to Benefit.

1. The Baby Skin did not dry down fast at all. It took at least three minutes before it really sunk in and was effective. The first time I used it I waited a few seconds (like I do for the POREfessional) and then applied my foundation. By not waiting I had moved around the Baby Skin and my foundation looked like crap that day. It pulled in certain areas and sunk into my pores (not an attractive look). By waiting those three minutes though my foundation wore as normal.

2. This is just a personal preference but I enjoy the POREfessional because not only does it fill my pores but it has a tint to it so it provides me with a little bit of extra coverage. The Baby Skin is clear which obviously is ideal because it can be used with any skin tone. I found that I had to add just a little extra foundation to get the coverage I wanted but again that is a personal preference.

Overall I think if you are on a budget and looking for a primer that blurs out pores then this is a good find. I got mine for about $4.00. Just make sure you shop around for the best deal and don't forget to use coupons!

Revlon: Photoready Airbrush Effect Foundation in 001 Ivory

I am so disappointed with this product! If I still had my receipt this would have gone back. There is glitter in the foundation. GLITTER! There are only two times where I would want glitter all over my face 1.Halloween 2. a Ke$ha concert.

In the store you could not tell that there was glitter in the formulation but once you hold it up to a light it is like a mini disco ball. I will say that once on the skin the formulation was full coverage and light weight but that darn glitter ruined it!

I was really wanting to like this but unfortunately I have to give this a big thumbs down.

Almay: Smart Shade Mousse Makeup in 001

As a science person I LOVE the idea behind this! It comes in a white form and when you apply it to your skin it transforms in to your perfect shade as long as you are on the color wheel for that particular foundation number.

Almay says for best application to apply with your fingers but I used a brush and got flawless looking skin with the perfect match to my skin tone. My cousin even noticed how great my skin looked!

I love this product! It was a huge win! Thanks to the boyfriend for picking it up for me!!

Maybelline: Fit Me Blush in 106 Light Mauve & 310 Deep Wine

When I go out shopping for makeup typically Nick is with me. I had coupons for some Maybelline face products so I let him pick out these two blushes for me for being a good sport. I think he was trying to be funny by getting two colors that are dark for my skin tone but they are absolutely GORGEOUS! (haha jokes on him!)

The color payoff for both of these blushes are amazing. They blend very easily and are perfect for the fall and winter. They are very pigmented so I only take a small amount to get the color I need. Deep Wine is perfect for a darker complexion and Light Mauve will look good on any skin type. #win

L'OREAL: Infallible Pro-Spray & Set Makeup Extender

I have never seen a makeup setting spray at the drugstore before so when I saw this I had to pick it up. I have mixed feelings about this setting spray especially since I haven't seen anything else like this in a drugstore. It was $14.99 which I think is expensive for something in a drugstore. If you are set on getting a setting spray spend the extra few dollars and get a higher end product that will be 10x better.

This felt heavy on my skin when I sprayed it but for the most part if held my makeup in place except for in my T-zone. My makeup started to melt away there (which is doesn't do that with my Urban Decay Makeup Setting Spray).

If you can find this on sale like I did (I got mine for $6.00 HOORAY for sales and coupons) then I say pick it up if you are not wanting to spend the money on something that is higher end.

I hope you enjoyed! Let me know if you have tried any of the above products or if there is anything from the drugstore you would like to see me try in my next haul!

Until Next time <3

  1. What a great post! I also was not that impressed with the Baby Skin pore eraser, it makes my skin extra oily! I love the Benefit one way better.

Good job to Nick for picking out some great products for you!

  2. Love Maybelline blushes, but got to say I feel the same way about the prime. Not a fan. If they made the primer to the same quality as the blush, they'd be onto a winner.
